Getting to Monte Pego couldn't be easier:
- 98 kms equi distant from either Alicante or Valencia Airport.
- Using the AP7 should take no more than an hour.
- Satellite co-ordinates: 38”51’07.82” N 0”02’20.14W
You can choose to go via the old coast road the N332 which will take you about twice the time that the motorway will take, most of the route is pretty but you do get slow moving traffic through all of the towns. Look at our 'Slow but scenic route to Monte Pego', if you are hiring a car from the Airport then the below directions are for you, if you are not hiring a car, and simply want travel recommendations we have included a couple of options that you may wish to explore.
Google map links have been downloaded, make sure you have Google maps on your computer. The problem with Google maps is that it does tend to take you through some strange routes. I have downloaded the most straightforward. I suggest that you look carefully at the Google Maps satellite view before you leave home. Getting along the motorway is easy, in fact getting to Monte Pego is easy, just that sometimes modern technology can confuse the blindingly obvious.
From Alicante Airport
Please click on the attached for interactive map from Google. Getting to Monte Pego From Alicante Airport This will take you to the Safari Park which is about 5 mins drive from Monte Pego.
Route:
Turn left toward N-338 (signs for A-7/E-15/Valencia/Murcia/Elche)
When you leave Alicante airport, watch out for, and stay on the N 338 towards Valencia, very easy to get into traffic flow and go left onto the N 338 to Murcia. If you do this not a problem, chill out you are on holiday. Drive up N 338 for about 5 Min's then exit and get back on the other lane and all will become clear.
However, the N338 becomes the A7, which is the main motorway that you remain on. Initially non toll, but after a while you will go through the toll booths. Get into the lane that shows the ticket, collect ticket from machine and carry on.
Take in the scenery, about 30 Min's or 50K later you will see Benidorm on your right
- Exit at junction 62 (Ondara), look out for the EROSKI sign on the shopping centre just to the left of the booths (See separate article about the shopping centre). This centre is about 15 Min's from Monte Pego.
- Once you have paid your toll, drive straight on, avoid the temptation to take the right hand curved exit, and carry on until you see a small sign for El Verges Safari Park, this takes you down a windy right curved bend, which eventually brings you onto the CV700, keeping the shopping centre on your left, watch out for signs 'Pego/El Verger' exit here.
- Keep left for Pego, and this will take you on a very sharp 'scalectrix' hairpin bend, which in effect takes you up and over the
N332 - Carry on following signs for Safari Park, and past this about 1 Kilometre is the entrance to Monte Pego.
From Valencia Airport
Please click on the attached for interactive map from Google Getting to Monte Pego from Valencia Airport
Couple of things to look out for. The exits are all numbered quite clearly however they are numbered on both the A/AP7.
- Exit at junction 61 from Valencia (Oliva Exit)
- Follow signs on N332 for Denia/Alicante
- Oliva gets clogged at all times of day! Either drive through and put up with it or Try and find the road that goes round the coastal side of the town.(Little signs for Alicante are the guide)
- This is done by bearing left and follow little signs for 'Alicante', this will be weird and take you winding through the outskirts of the town don't worry object is to get to other side of town.
- Follow signs for Pego. This will mean you come out of Oliva and head inland a little.
- When you pass the large cement works, you can either carry onto Pego, then turn left on the outskirts of Pego following signs to Denia
- Or, turn left into the orange groves which will take you through to the main road. These are the images from Google Maps that are attached. My view is going via Pego. May take 2 mins longer but on your first trip easier.
- When you get to the Garage on the right, turn into the slip road for the garage, the slip road carries on past the garage, and is about one car width wide. this will bring you out at the entrance to Monte Pego
Getting back into the airport can be confusing.
Return to Valencia Airport
- Pass through the toll booth which should be about €7.00
- Carry straight on following signs for Valencia.
- When you see signs for 'Madrid' with 'Aerpuerto' underneath follow those signs. This may feel strange but trust me. You will need to watch for a small exit for 'Madrid' 'Aerpuerto' turn here and keep following signs. Don't go above 80KPH this will allow you to see the signs in plenty of time.
- When you get to the airport, go to departures in your car; dump the luggage and family before returning the car to the rental company, much easier on the arms, and ears!
When you get to Monte Pego drive through the Monte Pego welcome arch, carry straight on until you see a reception type area. (Services)
Use your Monte Pego Villa rental member’s instructions to get to your Villa. If in doubt just pop into the bar or services centre of Monte Pego and grab a map of the site, they will be pleased to help.
