The Costa Blanca / Valencia / Alicante Province region
Benidorm is approx 30 Min's, Drive south, the attractions of Terra Mitica, Terra Natura theme parks, Aqualandia Water Park and Mundomar Dolphinarium are all nearby. Benidorm is well known for its wealth of bars, restaurants, nightclubs and floorshows.
The nearest golf club is only 10 minutes from Monte Pego - the Oliva Nova Golf, 18 holes, par 72 - Designed by Severiano Ballesteros. In addition there are several other golf courses all within a sensible driving distance. The La Sella Golf, 18 holes, par 72, designed by Jose Maria Olazabalm is a 20 minute drive and the famous El Saler golf, 18 holes, par 72, was voted 2nd best golf course in Europe, is approximately one hour’s drive away. There are also several local golf societies who welcome guests to play.
The following amenities are all available locally or within a 20 min drive:
- Sailing, water skiing, snorkelling, windsurfing, jet skiing, sea fishing, coarse fishing, swimming and an Olympic sized swimming pool in Pego at the sports complex.
- Cycling, quad biking and go-karting.
- Horse riding - there are many riding centres which organise rides through the mountains and the nearest centre is only 3km away at Vergel.
- Tennis and paddle in addition to guided walks are on the Monte Pego development. Rock climbing, trekking and bird watching, can all be arranged locally.
Beyond the beaches of the Costa Blanca and nestling amongst the mountains, the Jalon Valley is the main wine-growing area. The local bodegas in the Jalon arranged wine tours and wine can be purchased from the barrel.
Guadalest is about 50 min drive away, this hilltop town, founded by the Moors with its legendary Castle Fortress and reservoir endured the longest siege in Spain. It has definite wow factor and should not be missed, especially if you travel high up through the mountain roads and stop at the highest village which sells its own honey, then onto the tranquil spring and waterfall Fonts del Algaar at Callosa de Saria.
Denia / Monte Pego area
Monte Pego has several bars and restaurants which provide snacks and menu Del dia. In addition there is an indoor heated pool, a beauty therapy studio and an art gallery. Monte Pego has its own tennis courts and paddel (short tennis) courts, pertanc and bowls.
On Saturday evenings in the summer, the Monte Pego restaurant organises fantastic outdoor BBQs with live music and dancing, an event not to be missed as the food, is out of this world. The nearby Cova Bar broadcast live sports fixtures.
The Bella Vista Aparthotel has many evenings of entertainment, in its bars and restaurants and it too broadcasts live sports fixtures in the poolside bar.
Within a short drive, are many unspoilt villages all having their own unique markets or rastros.
The holiday maker is really spoilt for choice as the nearest blue flag beach is only 10 mins away travelling through the orange groves and paddy fields. This part of the Costa Blanca is well known for its miles and miles of safe, golden sandy beaches and quiet private coves, all within a short 10 min drive away.
Monte Pego is in a fantastic location for the world famous Fallas festivals and Moors and Christian marches, the spectacular local fiestas with fireworks and street parades are numerous throughout the summer months. The nearest Moors and Christian parade in El Vergel, is only 10 Min's away from Monte Pego, on 13th to 15th August, but there are many other parades.
The town of Pego is about 10 Min's away, and on Thursdays, has one of the best markets in the area. A short drive away is the towns of Denia and Javea, where the bars, restaurants and night-life are numerous.
Denia is an attractive castle town set amongst orange and almond groves. The town has a wealth of history; the museum shows the many interesting stages of its past life. There are many boutique style shops, bars and restaurants offering a wide range of international and Spanish cuisine. Fish can be bought straight off the boats at the bustling sea front market. There is no high rise development and Denia Marina provides many bars and night-life whilst the ferry port has daily sailings to the Balearic Islands.
